About Slovenia
|
Slovenia is the northernmost part of the former Yugoslavia. The Slovenes have a long history of being an independantly minded people, with their own language and culture. Most Europeans are just finding out about Slovenia, so it is unspoilt and not part of the large "tourism machine" that you'll find elsewhere in Europe. |

Slovenia is the most heavily forested country in the world and the mix of terrain broadly consists of mountainous areas along the north of the country where it borders Italy
and Austria and a lowland area in the south-west where Croatia and the Adriatic sea are to be found. Hungary is to the east, and it is possible to drive to its capital; Buda-Pest, in about 3 hours from Črna na Koroškem. Slovenia joined Europe in 1990 and finally become fully integrated during 2006 and 2007 when it converted to the Euro and removed internal European border controls. |

As a nation, the Slovenes love the outdoors. Hill walking, ski-ing and taking it easy seem to be the main past times - what a great combination! The Slovenes are also very friendly, perhaps one of the most welcoming in Europe. So you are sure to enjoy your stay in this small but perfectly formed country! |
